August First Friday with Chris Heisey

Posted by Linda Atiyeh - July 31, 2016

Gallery 30 will host a First Friday reception featuring award-winning Civil War battlefield photographer, Chris Heisey on Friday August 5th. Chris' photographs have been featured in a number of media publications including the National Geographic Traveler, America’s Civil War, and the History Channel. His work also graces the Visitor Center at the Gettysburg National Military Park. Chris has also received numerous awards for his images including four national merit citations. An accomplished author, Chris is currently working on a book project for Tidemark Press that spans the entire Civil War and includes all of the preeminent battlefields. He also collaborates with Tidemark to produce an annual Civil War wall calendar, which teams his stirring imagery with researched commentary writings.

MASTERFUL COMPOSITIONS

What's so interesting about Chris Heisey's photographic work is his compelling use of contrast, form and negative space to create an image. He uses these elements of composition masterfully. He has real following among Civil War art collectors and many of our customers are drawn to his prints because they are so emotionally moving.

BATTLEFIELD PRESERVATION

Passionate about saving our nation’s threatened battlegrounds, Chris also works with preservation groups to help save the sanctity of our treasured battlefields which are threatened today by development. Heisey is also a noted speaker presenting programs nationwide to civil war roundtables, camera clubs and workshops.

During the First Friday event, Heisey will be on hand to discuss how he selects historic locations and composes his extraordinary images.
