September First Friday: Meet Local Artist Barbara DeUgarte

Posted by Linda Atiyeh - August 29, 2017 - Gallery 30 will host local landscape painter Barbara DeUgarte during the First Friday reception on Friday, September 1st, from 5-8:30 pm.

DeUgarte will unveil five amazing Gettysburg Landscapes which will be on display and for sale. She will also be on hand to discuss her artistic process.

DeUgarte paints Gettysburg in a style that captures the tranquil beauty of Gettysburg using a palette rich in soft hues. Included in the exhibit are lovely renderings of The Eisenhower Farm, The Rose Farm, The Sherfy Farm, and views from The Pennsylvania Monument to name a few.  Her landscapes are painted in plein air or from photographs. The landscapes that Barbara creates center around the effects of light on form and color. She works toward eliciting a particular mood or feeling in the viewer and chooses colors that represent her interpretation of the land, rather than simply recreating the scene like a photograph.

DeUgarte's medium include oils, acrylics, mixed media and watercolors and she paints both landscapes and abstracts.

Barbara has been in a number of juried art shows at the Adams County Arts Council and the Delaplaine Visual Arts Center in Frederick, MD. She is a member of the ACAC, the Delaplaine Arts Center, the Susquehanna Valley Plein Aire Painters and the Carlisle Art Learning Center. She has participated in solo shows with the ACAC.

Also on hand will be local musician Tom May playing soft rock guitar, covering songs from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Dan Dandy, a local drummer, will be accompanying John on the cajón - a box-shaped hand percussion instrument widely used in Afro-Peruvian music since the late 1700s.

Meet Barbara DeUgarte, listen to live music, explore local art, and enjoy a wine and cheese reception at Gallery 30 from 5:30-8:30 PM on Friday, September 1, 2017.  Gallery 30 is located at 26 York Street in Gettysburg.  For more information visit www.gallery30.com or call 717-334-0335.
