Ron Krajewski was born and raised in Seattle, Washington, but after ten years in the Air Force, he has yet to settle in one place. A self-taught artist, Ron has lived in many areas, including Gettysburg. Ron’s love of animals is reflected in his boldly colored pet portraits.
Ron’s claim to fame is adopting Metro Meteor, a crippled racehorse, off the track and teaching him to paint. Ron and Metro have been featured on The Today Show, Good Morning America, People Magazine, and the BBC, to name a few. In 2016 Metro made a special guest appearance at Gallery 30 (with his best friend, Pork Chop), where Ron was on hand signing copies of his book, Painting with Metro: How a Crippled Racehorse Rescued Himself (and Me) with a Paintbrush. Through Metro’s paintings, Ron and his wife Wendy raised over $50,000 for the New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program.
After Metro’s passing in 2018, Ron relocated to Las Vegas, where he continues to paint pet portraits. Ron says that his five years painting with Metro has taught him how to “keep it loose.”
