April First Friday: Master Decoy Carver Chris Boone
Posted by Linda Atiyeh - March 28, 2017
Renowned decoy carver Chris Boone will join us at Gallery 30 on Friday, April 7th. His primitive-styled carvings are inspired by nature and the old world. With more than 30 years of craftsmanship, Chris has turned the decoy into an elegant piece of art.
Combining crafts with his personal joy of hunting and fishing, Chris began carving decoys at the age of twelve. He selects each section of a tree for his sculptures, and the shape and form of each carving are defined by the unique characteristics of the wood. Chris further hones the natural essence of the decoy by purposefully leaving lichen bark and moss attached. A hand finish is applied to the finished piece to bring out subtle grain patterns and to enhance the colors of the wood.
Come and join us! Meet Chris Boone while enjoying wine, and refreshments at Gallery 30, 26 York Street, Gettysburg from 5:30 to 8 pm on Friday, March 7th. For more information, call Gallery 30 at 717-334-0335
